u2: still awesome, despite me being increasingly more irritated at bono. but yes, they put on a fucking tight show, musically they're the best they've ever been, and they're always fun.
what wasn't fun: having a splitting headache from about 3pm until about midnight. it kind of tainted my opinion of the show. also, working in an office, you forget that standing for nine hours fucking hurts.
and then on the car ride back i got to listen to a soundboard quality mix from one of the last NIN shows, and that was totally awesome too.
so: 9.5/10 -> 5.0/10 with headache, but the first number is still valid. i mean, fuck, they played "your blue room" during the soundcheck and "ultraviolet" during their set. awesome. oh, and "unforgettable fire"! yay.
i wish i had the wherewithal to write something coherent and which didn't make me sound like a fucking troglodyte right now, but it's late and all. tomorrow at work i'm sure i'll feel like i have to justify liking u2 to some of the metal snobs i work with.

my heat stopped working earlier today. i didn't notice, really, until it got down to about 59 and i went to check the thermostat, which was properly set. i went downstairs to push the little red reset button on the furnace, to no avail.
then i hoped the problem would go away if i ignored it for a few hours, which it did not.
so i disassembled the thermostat and shorted the furnace controls. no dice, thermostat probably fine. i decided to go downstairs again to make sure there wasn't a tripped breaker and then i noticed in the back hallway two oil burner emergency cutoff switches. one was on, one was off. risking god-knows-what (michael bay-style explosion?) i flipped it. my furnace started.
now, as far as i know, those switches don't behave like breakers -- i'm pretty sure you have to actually flip it yourself to turn something on and off. i did, however, hear the upstairs neighbor go up and down the back stairway this afternoon.
do i have an enemy?
i mean, another one?
